Convention speaker officially announces candidacy for the U.S. Senate

In an interesting (though, expected) follow-up to my Young Democrats Convention outing, Commissioner Michael Thurmond, who spoke at the event’s evening ceremony, announced his intent to run for one of Georgia’s U.S. Senate seats.

That makes him the second U.S. Senate contender I’ve seen since the beginning of the academic year (candidate for one of Illinois’s seats, David Hoffman, was the first around Christmas).
